Pistin tälläsen mailin sille Dennis Harrysonille sveduihin:
Mr. Harryson,
First of all, congratulations for getting the rights to broadcast NHL
games once again, I renewed my C+ subscription only because of NHL games
shown on Canal+ Sport. The overall quality of your sportscasts is great
except for one major thing; the choice of NHL commentator for C+ Finland.
Pentti Lindegren probably knows a lot about NHL but he simply isn't up to
the task of being the play-by-play commentator anymore. He's constantly 'lagging' (=he's commenting the previous situation while new one is already under way), there's way too many 'silent moments' (=meaning he's lost), he constantly misses things and generally makes a crapload of factual mistakes (on saturday night Marius Czerkawski played 2 periods for the Leafs and 1 forthe Habs according to Lindegren's commentary).
Now if all this happened every now and then, I probably wouldn't mind but since it's the case in every frigging game it's really starting to bother me to the point that I'm wondering for how long I bother to wake up at 3am to watch the games.
I'm not alone in this, this is a hot topic on major finnish hockey message
boards all the time. Hell, there's even an internet site dedicated to the
blunders of Lindegren. If you need some links I'd be happy to provide them
for you.
You had (have?) a great commentator in Mikko Innanen, he was 1000x better NHL commentator and I really wonder why he ain't commentating
your NHL games (again, this opinion is shared by many hockey fans over here) again this year.
I ask you to do something about this, if nothing else get a better
play-by-play commentator and assign Lindegren to the position of expert
commentator where he can share his wisdom without hurting the
actual play-by-play commentating. You have the same system in C+ Sweden
and from what I've heard, it works great.
If that's not an option, please let us in Finland have the choice of
original commentating with the north-american commentators, this used to
be the case with C+ Blue 2 years ago if you changed the language to
danish and I used that choice every time.
So to summarize my point, Pentti Lindegren as a commentator drags your
overall level of NHL broadcasting down big time and I'd really like to
hear if this is something you have acknowledged and if you have any plans
to improve the situation.
Best regards,
