Instagramissa seuraan tällästä (suht isoa) NHL uutistiliä, jossa ovat alkaneet nyt listaamaan joukkueiden gm:t parhuusjärjestykseen. Kuten alta näkyy Stan oli heidän mielestä sijalla 27 (huonompia Benning, Dorion, Chiarelli ja Bergevin).
nhl.discussion#27 on our General Manager Rankings is Stan Bowman.
It’s hard to imagine a GM having three Stanley Cups on his resume, and being this low in the rankings, but Bowman has done it to himself.
He wasn’t responsible for any of the Hawks core during their winning span. Kane, Toews, Hossa, Seabrook, Keith and Crawford were already drafted, and handed to Bowman when he took the job.
From there, Bowman began to win, but his team also fell apart. Other GM’s have been able to keep their teams together, but Bowman always lost a large majority of his depth players due to terrible contracts to his main six. Kane and Toews were major overpays when they were handed their eight-year contract extensions, and Seabrook was signed to a huge contract, which may be the worst in the league right now.
Bowman also made a huge mistake trading Hjalmarsson last off season. He was one of their most reliable defenceman during their winning years, but he decided to keep the overpaid Seabrook instead.
The turnover after winning the 2010 Stanley Cup was huge. Bowman should have tried harder to keep some big pieces that could of helped him have even more success in the future.
Bowman has also had trouble restocking the system. Until 2016 when DeBrincat was drafted in the second round, he missed on first rounders like Mark McNeill, Kevin Hayes and Phillip Danault. Trading Terevainen to shed the Bryan Bickell’s contract was a big mistake in hindsight, as was his attempt to bring the band back together the last two seasons.
He overanalyzed having no playoff success with Panarin in his lineup, and traded him for a much less offensively-capable Brandon Saad. Re-acquiring Brian Campbell and Patrick Sharp were also oversights.
Bowman had his success, but he’s done a terrible job replenishing his talent. This franchise was set up to win Stanley Cups for a decade. Now they will have to wait a decade until their bad contracts are up so they can build from the bottom once again.
Lisäksi listasivat seuraavasti:
Worst picks: McNeil #18, Hayes #24.
Worst contract: Seabrook 6X6,88M.
Worst trade: Panarin, Motte, 6th for Saad, Forsberg, 5th.
Best picks: Debrincat #39, Shaw #139.
Best contract: Schmaltz 1X925K (ELC).
Best trade: Barker for Leddy, Johnsson.
En itse kyllä allekirjoita useaampaakaan pointtia tekstissä. Etenkin tuo best contract kohta on vähän outo koska ELC:nä ei mielestäni kerro mitään Stanista general managerina ellei sillä sitten viitata, että kaikki muut ovat huonoja pahveja. Tätä tekstiä ei kuitenkaan pidä ottaa liian vakavasti, vaan lähinnä laitoin näin sunnuntai lueskeltavaksi ja kommentoitavaksi näiden uusien huhujen lisäksi.
