Don't ...
... worry, be happy hockeylovers of Finland !
Today the almighty Swedes got a good beatin' by the Czech red army ( not of lovers ! ).
Well, the game ended "just" 5-3 in favour for the Czechs, but Sweden had as much chance of winning this game as a mosquitoes piss in the sea ... if you see what I mean.
First of.
What the hell is this geezer writtin' in the native tongue of Gretzky-Yzerman-Stevens-Shanahan-land for, instead of Finnish in a Finnish discussion list you might wonder.
Well, if I wrote this in Finnish you would burst out in laughter and laugh the livin' shit out of your head over my spelling.
And we wouldn't want that to happen, want we ?
The thing is I'm born in the land of thousand lakes ( and hockey players ! ) but did move over to the land of ... Army of Lovers by the age of seven. Or rather, my parents moved over to Sweden.
With me.
So there's some ( plenty ) of Finnish blood runnin' through my veins.
Enough of my boring life story.
Over to hockey.
When I read this message board I sometimes, well quite often, get the feelin' that you Finnish hockeylovers underrate the status of Finnish hockey. If Finnish hockeyplayers are so terrible - why the hell are they playin' abroad in hordes ?
Because that the foreigners, specially the Swedes, love shitty hockey players?
No way, José.
The Finns can play hockey. You know it. I know it. Everybody knows it.
But hey, brothers. Talk of get off topic here.
This was meant to be about the pre-games before the Real Big Battle Over Hockeyworld. Not about Finnish hockeyplayers in general.
So here we go ... again.
Well, the Czechs beat the livin' shit out of the Swedes in this nights game. Infront of an half empty arena. Maybe Sundin isn't that BIG star all over the world anyway ...
The Czechs run over Sweden like a rampant bunch of skillfull rhinos. In tonights game the Czechs were like an unstopable killin' machine'. The head killer was - maybe - Vaclav Prospal who did score from the red line !
This time around it was the third goalie for the Toronto Maple Leafs - Mikael Tellqvist ( but the first pick for Sweden ) - who did a Salo, instead of Salo, when the Czechs scored 4-1. He didn't impress the slighest otherwise either. Looked like a windmill. Rebounds a plenty.
Otherwise the Swedes seemed to be a big bunch of gluey skaters in this Czech game. Yes, they're pretty big. But are they fast ?
No way.
The age is maybe creepin' at 'em. I mean; Sundin is 33, Näslund 31, Alfredsson 31, Ragnarsson 33, Lidström 34 etc. You get the picture.
Maybe one of the reasons the Czhechs ouskated them - big time.
Sweden seemed to be paralysed, nervous, out of control and way ... offside in this game.
O.K, their big bopper- Peter Forsberg - was not with 'em ( he was in Canada to get a new pair of skates ! ). But believe me, even if Forsberg had been in this game the result had been the same.
Czhech ruled the waves - and Sweden was lookin' aside.
Ram 'em down was the word of the Czechs new headcoach today. The Czechs did it in a big way. Powerful in their power play, powerful in their play five-against-five. Seldom have I seen a Swedish national hockey team down in the gutter knee deep in shit like today ...
Nobody in the Swedish team was even near to be considered as to be good.
Hårda Hardys heart must have have been hurt.
Considered the fact that five of the Czhech top players - incl. Jaromir Jagr - was missing from this game !
5-3, is a good result - for Sweden.
O.K, this is only from watchin' the game on Viasat Sport 1 here in Sweden. But believe me, the commentators didn't jump of joy I can tell you. But maybe I did ...
Take me down to my maker and make me some justice some fuck...n' day ( Jesus ? ).
Sweden ain't a better hockeyteam than Finland.
They only have more luck ( if I would've been a Swedish hockeyplayer, I would've been playing the pools 365 days a year ... and winn a shipload of money ! ).
Which way or another.
I watched the game between Sweden and Finland a couple a days a go from Globen ( on TV 3 ). Finland played one helluva game me thinx. Tight but loose. Tight in defense, loose in attack.
Raimo Summanen, the hard headed coach of Finland, seems to be had spoken some sense in to the Finnish players.
Full frontal attack isn't always the keyword to win games. Tight defense might sometimes be good. Well, the ( lucky ) Swedes did win in overtime again in this pre-World Cup game, again, and again ... and ain't life a bitch ?
But the Finns could've ended up as the winners as well. Believe my word.
Even your "most hated" defensman number 44, Janne Niinimaa, did one helluva game. No mistakes what so ever. Not even when "the almighty" ( Peter Forsberg ) tried to get something goin', he could not get away from the grip of 99 kg Niinimaa. We are talkin' box play too. Niinimaa even played better than his favourite - Kirk Hammett ( Metallica ! ).
Up front in the game against the Swedes there were some heavy metal youngsters from Finland who did make a impression; thinkin' of Mikko Koivu and Tuomo Ruutu.
Well, if these two ain't going to be stars some sunny day - nobody will !.
And two other chaps in the Finland team who has "the devil eye" is Ville Nieminen and Jarkko Ruutu. Comprende ?
To run this shit up.
Are there any Jokerit-fans out there ?
If you were a little bit frightened of the score of 1-4 against HV 71 ( the Swedish champions ) the other night.
Don't worry. The game was even. The only problem was that Tim Thomas had a sleepin' day at work. He let everything on goal in.
Jokerit bombarded HV 71:s goal, specially in the second period. Jokerit hit the crossbar - and the goalposts - a couple of times.
But as you know, were talkin' Swedes here ...
But I have no problems with HV 71.
Hell, no.
I've been a dedicated abuser of HV 71 since Pekka Marjamäki days 1979 here in Jönköping !
So don't worry - be happy Finland.
Your time is gonna come ...
