Santorelli on jäänyt melko tuntemattomaksi tapaukseksi, ihan ok tehoja iskenyt kuitenkin. Mites tuo pelaa puolustussuuntaan, alivoimaa ilmeisesti pelannut ainakin?
Kassianille kahden vuoden jatko $1.75 millin cap hitillä.
Läpimurto top-6 voimahyökkääjäksi ensi kaudella?
Jake's got an incredible skill set. He's got good size, is a very, very dynamic skater who handles the puck well with a great release. He has all the tools to be a successful NHL player one day.
I don't think I've seen a player with the tools Jake already has at such a young age. I've coached and played with some high-end players at this level, and he's right up there with the best. He's going to have to continue to get stronger… he's got the size right now to do it in junior, but it's a different story in pro hockey, so he needs to keep developing physically and in his understanding of the game [and] using his teammates consistently.
I think my skating is my best asset and my shot's pretty good as well. Overall, I just try to be a two-way power forward and use my speed in the offensive and defensive zones. I try to be a leader, even though I'm still a younger player on my team. I try to go out and lead by example and put in the work in all situations.
"Centres who play every situation in the game, are involved in all areas on the ice and contribute with and without the puck are in high demand. The cliche, '200-foot player' applies to Jared. His versatility and sense is excellent."
A big man with excellent athletic skills and a burning competitive fire. Works to be better and his attention to detail and improving in all aspects makes him a top goaltending prospect who can realize his vast potential.
Vey is extremely close to forcing his way on to the roster full time. His offensive instincts make him a lethal set up man, while he also possesses a limited scoring ability. His solid work in the defensive zone may go unnoticed by fantasy hockey hounds, but is the type of thing that impresses coaches. His speed, defensive awareness, and on-ice vision will most likely earn him a bottom-6 role in Los Angeles next season.
Linden has a great gift to see things on the offensive side, and he has a high hockey IQ. As soon as he embraces the defensive game to the level that he needs to, the sooner he’ll be enjoying time on an airplane, instead of riding on a bus.
He’s a good person. He works best with other players who think the game the way he does, and I think that sometimes, he gets a little frustrated that I’m going to demand that he plays defense first. But that’s the way it works. The better you defend, the more you’re going to have the puck on your stick, and that’s a challenge for guys who have led their leagues in scoring, and guys who have had a lot of accolades.
When you face situations where you’re being reminded about your defensive responsibilities, sometimes it’s not as flowery as you’d like it to be.
He’s a young guy with some incredible gifts. He makes things happen for us here in Manchester. He sees things that most people don’t. We had a discussion recently where he told me, ‘I’d like to be a leader. I’m hoping to be a better listener now, and I respect that your job is to teach me to be a better defender, and I know that’s going to get me where I need to go.
Näköjään yhteenkään Canucks-varaukseen ei kannata toivoaan laittaa koska heidät kaupataan/päästetään järjestäen aina muualle ennen mahdollisuutta osoittautua tekijäksi. Schroeder Wildiin.
"Dustin is a guy who can do a lot of different things. He can play up [on a top line], he can play on the power play, he can play penalty-kill, he's a left-handed shot [faceoff] guy. He adds some skill, but he's also a guy who ... in the American Hockey League, was a shutdown-type of centerman. He can do a lot of different things.
When I took the job, I talked to Trevor - and we wanted to create depth. So we have competition for jobs from within, competition for ice time. As soon as I took the job we went to work. I was on the phone for a month..
We got some good young kids in this year’s draft, and some others from last year’s draft and in our system. We want to develop these kids in a winning environment. We wanted to get younger, and get players that play with energy, that play fast, that play hard. And I think we were able to accomplish that.
We feel goaltending is the most important position on the team. A goaltender has the ability to give your team confidence and also take confidence away from the team. We felt with getting Ryan - a veteran guy who has played a lot of games - he can act as a mentor to Eddie Lack as he develops. We did this formula with my other teams, and it worked out well.
When Ryan Kesler came to us and asked to be traded.. one of the first things we wanted to get back when we moved him was a 2nd line center that could score. And Nick Bonino scored 22 goals last year and ended up getting more points than Ryan did. Getting him was an important piece back.
Getting Radim Vrbata -- he’s good on the power play. He’s a good two-way player, he’s good around the net. I think he’s 4th all-time in shootout goals so he’ll help us there. I think he also scored 10 power play goals last year so he’ll help us there as well.
I’ve watched Linden Vey the last 3 years in Manchester; he played on a line there with Toffoli and Pearson and was a very good AHL player, so he’s going to get an opportunity here with us now to see what he can do at the NHL level. We’ve also added depth, and I think we’re going to count on getting goals from all 4 of our lines this year. That’s what we tried to do to improve the scoring.
The fans here are too passionate to let that happen (get in on the Connor McDavid sweepstakes). What our plan is going to be is we’re going to draft well. I come from a scouting background. It started a couple of years ago and this year we had a real good draft. That’s what we’re going to do, that’s why we hired Willie; he’s good at working with younger players. This is a market where we’re going to be competitive. We want to win here.
These guys are at our development camp this week. Bo Horvat and Shinkaruk look really good. They’re going to come to training camp and if they have a good camp, and if they deserve a spot on the team then we’ll try to make room for them. But it’s a long process, they have to learn the pro game.
When you look at, for example, what Detroit does. They play a year in the AHL, they have success at that level, which helps build their game. Physically, they’re more mature. They’re better pros because of it. The last thing we want to do is push guys into the lineup when they’re not ready. Having good depth at the forward position allows these guys to play at the level they need to play at for best development.
I think he’s in Toronto?.. but, and what I noticed very early with Jim is that he’s not only a talent evaluator but he’s a team builder. When you construct a team you need certain pieces in certain places. Watching him work through the Ryan Kesler situation, which then led to adding whether it be Derek Dorsett, or Linden Vey, or Luca Sbisa it changed what happened to our forward group. It’s a decision we had to make. It wasn’t an indictment, it’s just kind of the way it flowed through the summer.
When we signed Ryan Miller the first guy I called was Eddie, and I spoke to him. He’s got such a great attitude, he’s a real professional. I talked to him about how thrilled we were with his development last year and how this now gives us two goaltenders that on any given night we can win with. You can’t go out and not have great goaltending every night. Eddie was thrilled, he looked at it as an opportunity to learn from one of the best. Continued his growth as a goaltender.
One thing people forget is that it takes time for goaltenders; you look at Cory Schneider and the number of years it took him. We drafted young Thatcher Demko who’s 18 years old and he’s going to spend 3-4 years in college, and then a couple of years in the AHL. It’s a really difficult position. It’s an opportunity for Eddie to continue on his path and not be pushed into a situation he doesn’t have enough support in. We’re trying to guard against that this year.
I think your style depends on the personnel in the room. I think we’ve got great personnel to play high tempo hockey and be on the attack. If you play good defense you turn pucks over and then you can go on the attack. We’re a hungry hockey team, we want to be aggressive, we want to go after teams, and we think we have the personnel to do that.
I worked with Doug for a little bit on the national team, then he coached with me in Medicine Hat for a year. When I went to Austin I took him with me. I’ve never seen him mad at a player, and yet he still gets the best out of his players. He’ll be a great attribute to our organization and the players will like him.
You guys should really see Bo's legs in person, its crazy. That's a guy who doesn't skip a leg day. MSL type of legs!
I don't know how to say this. He just exudes hockey player. He is solid everywhere. Yeah he busted past the defence a bunch of times with sheer strength, but what impressed me more was how he consistently rotated down to cover the rushing defenceman, and how he was ALWAYS in the right place. For example, I can't count how many times I saw a 3-on-3 scrum on the boards and he was in exactly the right place covering the front of the net with his head on a swivel. He never puck watches. Maybe not as much finish as I would like but I feel like he's too smart to not succeed. No real chance to see him play a possession game but he's unselfish and kept up with the play.
is like i've been saying comes in and out of a game; Made a nice backcheck early. Smart in his positioning; showed a lot of skill. Scored a goal, but the assist was even better finding the streaking man in front of the net. The between the leg pass happened so fast, i think everyone was really impressed. But again, its all in flashes rather than the consistent presence that Bo has. Sometimes you don't notice him. Still played a good game today.
Forsling was very impressive, well i was a big fan before and this showing did nothing to change that. Skates very well, really like how vocal he is on the ice. One play stands out where he noticed he was open, called for the puck, got from Horvat and stepped into a shot. He did not show off his slapper today, he flubbed on the one time he did take a slapper. But i really liked the way he is aggressive in moving the puck and dictating the offense.
Only one sub-par shift the whole game. Explosive and dangerous every time he was on the ice. Sneaky good at separating guys from the puck, which stood out because there wasn't a lot of active puck stealing going on. He made a lot of extremely impressive rushes, with one very memorable dangle that enabled him to make a good cross-crease pass. Him and Forsling together just dynamite but he is clearly a lot shorter than everyone on the back-end and Forsling is clearly a lot skinnier.
Otan ilolla vastaan tuon muutoksen joukkueessa. Pitkään Canucksin runko olikin sama, ehkä liiankin pitkään?Suuret kiitokset taas nuckille hyvistä ja kattavista postauksista viimeaikaisiin tapahtumiin liittyen. Ihan kaikesta en ole täysin samaa mieltä, mutta samalla seinällä ollaan hyvinkin pelaajien arvostusten suhteen.
Burrowsin kauppaamista olen minäkin miettinyt omissa fantasiahahmotelmissa. Mr. Smith kirjoitti:Itse veikkaan, että jotain suurempaa kauppaa siellä järjestellään (Markström + Burrows??), koska cappiin jäi kohtuullisesti tilaa ja Benning on varsin aktiiviinen ollut nyt muokkaamaan tiimiä haluamaansa suuntaan. Ja noiden kahden mainitun pelaajan kauppaaminen mahdollistaisi isonkin (6-7 miljoonan) caphitin vastaanottamisen.
Paljon viisaita sanoja secordilta. Vancouverin tilanne on ihan auki tällä hetkellä.
Brad Marchand anyone?
