"With about eight minutes left on the clock, Ukrainian defenseman Denis Isayenko had to leave the game on a stretcher after being hit along the boards. Soon after getting to the bench, he collapsed. He was given a protective brace around his neck as he lay down on the bench. He was sent to hospital for further examination with a possible neck injury and a broken jaw.
Ukraine were deserved winners
With 1:34 remaining, Vadym Shakhraychuk and Anthony Iob were given double minors and misconduct penalties after throwing down their gloves in front of Simchuk's net. As Iob was about to leave the ice, Sergii Klimentiev followed moments later. Then Iob and Klimentiev began fighting in the hallway leading to the dressing rooms. Security quickly broke up that fight, but while this was happening, Michele Strazzabosco and Armin Helfer also left the ice to go after the Ukrainian players. A linesman quickly followed the two Italians and brought the two back onto the ice.
"We watched the video as soon as we got off the ice," said Mickey Goulet, the Italian head coach. "And Tony got sucker-punched in the head twice."
At that point, Iob went to the dressing room with a cut over one eye. Klimentiev did not return to the ice and did not receive penalties."
Onkos tuo YLEn studio kommentoinut ollenkaan näitä tapahtumia?
