Goaltender Jose Theodore has a bruised left knee and won't be ready to play when Montreal hosts the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.Cristobal Huet, who made 28 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss in Minnesota in his Canadiens debut on Saturday night, is expected to start a second game in a row.
The Canadiens recalled goalie Yann Danis and forward Andrei Kostitsyn from AHL Hamilton on Monday. "I have to stand up because I can't go into the butterfly (position)," said Theodore. "In order to play, I would need more mobility than that."Huet looked nervous in his first game, but that's normal. He already was more confident by the third period. It's not easy for him. He hasn't played in a long time."
Captain Saku Koivu, who returned from a groin injury last week, went for treatments after skating for only a few minutes in practice on Monday. "He hasn't aggravated the injury but he still fells some pain," said coach Claude Julien. "We hope he'll be ready to play against the Senators."
Alex Kovalev, who has been out more than a month with a knee injury, is still waiting for the green light from team doctors to return. He is to be examined on Tuesday morning to see if he is ready. Kovalev said he was ready to return last week.
Winger Richard Zednik was unable to practice due to a flu and is also not certain to play. Centre Tomas Plekanec suffered a left knee injury against Minnesota and won't play and centre Radek Bonk remains sidelined with a groin injury
