Olipa taas melkoinen fact check.Mielestäni tämä vielä paremmin: Fact check: Trump blames Democrats for his policy of separating kids from parents at border
(linkki NBC:hen)
Oikeasti tuosta tulisi syyttää George W Bushia ja Operation Streamlinea:
Lainaus Wikipediasta:
"Operation Streamline is a joint initiative of the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice in the United States, started in 2005, that adopts a "zero-tolerance" approach to unauthorized border-crossing by engaging in criminal prosecution of those engaging in it. Up to 70 people are tried at the same time, sometimes wearing shackles in the courtroom. Entering without inspection is a misdemeanor, and re-entering after deportation is a felony.
Toki Obama jatkoi tuota policyä. Tässä aiheesta NYTin juttu helmikuulta 2014:
Detainees Sentenced in Seconds in ‘Streamline’ Justice on Border - The New York Times
"The program began under President George W. Bush, but it has grown under President Obama, underscoring the aggressive way with which his administration has pursued deportations, which reached 1.9 million in December, a record for an American president...Sentences range from 30 days to six months and are served in federal prisons, county jails and private detention centers that operate under contract with the government. Keeping the migrants from their families and the possibility of jobs to sustain them is one part penalty, one part incentive for them not to try to come back. (An illegal re-entry conviction carries a maximum of two years in prison, but it can be up to 20 years if the migrant has been deported before and has an aggravated-felony conviction.)
Operation Streamline on siis voimalla kolmessa osavaltiossa neljästä.
Tuossa Sessionsin memo:
https://www.justice.gov/opa/press-r...nload?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery
Varmaan unohtui vahingossa.
