Laitetaan tähän nyt vielä vaikka yks Jagr-haastattelu, joka on käännetty tsekkiläisestä jutusta. Kaikesta huolimatta Jagr taitaa tykätä DC:ssä olosta:
Trade? It would be my biggest loss" said Jagr
PK: The last few weeks were unsuccesful for your team, and you yourself. Are you upset?
J: Me? I'm OK, I'm fine. Guys don't score for a while and you (the media) make do-or-die situation out of it.
PK: It looks like you have not been happy on the ice. Due to the last few losses, you've raised hell with the team...?
J: Scoring could be better, its true. But enough games remain. I'm not stressed [about it]. In hockey it's up and down.
PK: There has been discussion about your possible trade. You swear at yourself when you dont score from a good position. Are you realy so calm about it?
J: I dont think that I scored too little. I have the same average as I did in Pittsburgh. I scored more than 50 only twice, and I belive that I'll score 50 this season. [ed note: i like that optimism!]
PK: It was much easier for you in Pittsburgh, wasn't it?
J: Absolutely. In Pittsburgh, there were players that played with a style similar to mine. The powerplay in Pittsburgh was very good and we scored a lot of goals.
PK: But Leonis brought Lang in, and stellar forward Nylander came to the Caps, you have Bondra, Gonchar...
J: I don't want to say the guys which you listed are not skilled. I guess that we have a very good team. The problem is in the style [playing strategy]. [The Caps'] style is completly different than Pittsburgh's.
PK: Did you heard that you're being shopped out?
J: I dont care about it. It was in a newspaper, but it's just a rumour, probably untrue.
PK: So you really dont care about the speculations?
J: And what about Petr Nedved from NYR. I heard speculation about his trade a million times last year! Speculation starts whenever a team is playing badly.
PK: But these speculations comes from many sources.
J: From which? I dont know what you're talking about.
PK: Your agent, Marian Jelinek, mentioned that ottawa and washington newspapers cited some unnamed NHL managers.
J: All right... Any player can be trades. Especialy when the team is down. Nobody is untouchable.
PK: So do you imagine you could be playing for another team soon?
J: I don't believe I'll be traded this season. If we have any chance to make the play offs, I dont belive I will be traded. And if they trade me, well, my mistake...
PK: They say that Colorade wants trade Peter Forsberg. It would be a great trade! I know that sounds flashy and unbelelievable, but who knew about the Mario comeback two years ago?
J: Traded for Forsberg... Who would profit from that? Hmm ... Colorado also is not doing well this season...
PK: So it makes sense?
J: It's posible. I was more egoistic.
PK: OK, back to you. Do you know your standings in the NHL statistics?
J: I dont know.
PK: Are you not interested?
J: No. Absolutely no. I dont care about statistics. When I start caring about stats, you write that I'm blowing off the team. If I'm careful, Ill be in the top in stats.
PK: But now you are in the bottom 3rd. So are you happy with your play as a Cap this year?
J: Its hard to describe. When I played in Pittsburgh and we led by one goal, I would take risks. I played for myself a little. I was younger and more selfish.
PK: Yes, you were egotistical. Are you different now?
J: In time, you start caring about others. Today I would rather clear the puck than make the play. For me it's as important to pass as to make the play with Caps. I'm not concerned with anything else.
PK: Why? for your teammates?
J: Mostly for one man, our owner. And for my teammates of course. I don't like to be indebted to people.
PK: Ted Leonsis is unusually close to you. Other NHL clubs owners dont meet with players, but Leonis is inviting you to parties...
J: I think that he is a good man. He is interested in hockey, he lives hockey. He brings me to the Caps and I don't like feeling that I owe him, and I can't "deliver." I regret that his high hopes for me joining the team arrival haven't been filled.
PK: Your agent Jelinek claims that the trade from Pit. was bad for you. That you are unhappy.
J: I'm glad that I'm here. It may not look like it, but its true. Until they trade me I stay here. From the biggest crises people come together. You suffer so that you can celebrate. You can laugh at me for it, but its my point of view.
PK: So the idea of a trade doesn't appeal to you?
J: It would be the worst thing for me.
PK:Why?
J: Because I would not live up to the expectations. It would be great loss for me. And until I'm here fate decides otherwise. Maybe it's fated that I'll bring the Cup to DC.
