Lacroix said if the Avalanche does sign free agents, "it's going to be in a low-profile way, as we have done in the past to fill holes."
"But other than that, we have a great team, and the recipe has worked for 10 years," he said.
....
Lacroix insisted Monday the Avalanche plan to go into the season with goalies David Aebischer and Phil Sauve following the retirement of Patrick Roy. He said reports that Colorado had inquired about veteran goalies, including Tampa Bay's Nikolai Khabibulin, have been incorrect. "That never has crossed my mind," Lacroix said.
But if the Avs were looking for a veteran goalie, they probably wouldn't say so anyway, right?
"Why not?" Lacroix said. "Why would we say different?"
Lacroix repeated his stand that Aebischer and Sauve deserve the first crack at succeeding Roy, Aebischer after serving three seasons as Roy's backup and Sauve after three seasons at Hershey.
"It's an issue of respect, and that's the way we operate," Lacroix said.
Ja Rocky Mountain Newsissä
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/avalanche/article/0,1299,DRMN_39_2079816,00.html:
As usual, the Colorado Avalanche won't be a player in the open market. Signing marquee free agents isn't part of general manager Pierre Lacroix's "recipe" for building a team.
"If you think we're going to go around and run after free agents like other teams have done . . . we've never done it for nine years, and we're never going to change it," Lacroix said Monday. "We've done it in a very low-profile (way), to fill in some needs or holes at a certain point. We won't change that.
"I can't talk for other teams. It's tough for me to say if it's going to be different. They don't call me to tell me they won't spend money. It could be (different), but you never know. It's a competitive business, and everyone wants to be competitive."
Tajusitko?
edit.
Fani voi toivoa, että seuran GM ei valehtele päin naamaa vaan joko puhuu rehellisesti tai pitää julkisuudessa turpansa kiinni.
