Philadelphia Flyers Sign Nolan Baumgartner and Lars Jonsson
The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have agreed to terms on a contract with 6’2”, 205-pound defenseman Nolan Baumgartner and 6’2”, 198-pound defenseman Lars Jonsson, according to club General Manager Bob Clarke. Baumgartner, a Group 3 free agent, signed a two-year contract, while Jonsson signed a one-year contract.
“Baumgartner has a great shot, is very good skater and two-way defenseman, kills penalties and plays the power play,” said Clarke in making the announcement. “He averaged about 17 minutes of ice time last year (16:29) and had 34 points, five of them goals, four on the power play. We think that he is going to be a real strong addition to our defense.
“Jonsson was the seventh player selected by the Boston Bruins in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He never signed with Boston and was a free agent. He is 6’2”, 198 pounds and a left-handed shot.
