" I'm from Estonia and I will stone-ya ! "
Planetfootball.com interview with Jatkoaika's PJay
Our Jimmy Bollocks had a brief one-on-one with FC Jatkoaika's Estonian winger PJay, after his first training session with his new club.
PJay, native of Tallinn, is best known for his 'Beckham-like' crosses and rugged tackling.
As I watched Jatkoaika's training, lead by 'gaffer' Flazor, my eye caught on a right winger, who took most of the corners, delivered pin-point crosses, piledriver free-kicks, fool-proof spotkicks, and to to it of, hardly ever let an opposing player run by him.
As the session was coming to end, I asked his agent / P.R. rep Andrus Nool, could I have a chat with.
I was given five minutes (because his busy schedule), this is what he had to say.
Q: What are your expectations for this season ?
A: Well I myself am hoping for a solid season. Because this team is filled with really good players, I'm ready to cope with the (what's you call it?)... squad rotation. But if I don't play enough, I'm afraid I lose my place in the national team.
Q: What about the club ? Are you setting a high target ?
A: We are hoping for European football next year. All of us want to win things, but maybe not this year. But, who knows, heh heh.
---> sidenote: In official press release, FC Jatkoaika are aiming for mid-table finish. ---> End.
Q: You've been known to be a 'hardman', and you were sent off quite many times in your previous club. Are you going to change your style ?
A: No. Absolutely Not. My style of play fits perfectly to this team. And the manager hasn't given me any orders to 'take it easy', so to speak. And as you know, sometimes you have to take the risk of being 'booked'.
Q: The details of your contract with FC Jatkoaika haven been given to the press, could you comment on those ?
A: I'm sorry, but I can't. You'll have to talk to Flazor (manager) about that. All I can say is that I'm content with both pay and length.
--> As I asked Flazor, he didn't have any comment either. Just that It's a more-than-one-year deal.
This kind of secrecy is bit strange. It is known that PJay had talks with some Italian clubs before signing to Jatkoaika. In fact, it was quite surprising that he eventually signed with them.
Agent Andrus Nool came to tell me our time was up. I shaked hand with both of them, and thanked for the interview.
As I watched PJay drive of with his brand-new Boxter, I saw in the corner of my eye a small boy with a FC Jatkoaika shirt, the name PJay on the back. First of many, I thought to myself.
