Elikkä täs olis Leafs:ien arvosanat playoff:eista ála The Star. Jos jotakin edes kiinnostaa? Eli tämä on napattu Toronto Star:in sivuilta. Berg sai arvosanakseen C:n.
Huomatkaa Kaberlen todella alhainen palkka, miehen taitoihin nähden.

Many players rose to the occasion while the team fell short of its goals
A

MATS SUNDIN: This is up from a C grade a year ago, and deservedly so. For the first time in three playoffs, the captain lived up to his billing. He'll likely sit down to negotiate a long-term contract this summer.

A-

GARY ROBERTS: Tireless, great hustle, grit and plenty of character.

BRYAN McCABE: Really stepped up his play, and had a good series vs Jersey. He's the reason Leafs may change their minds on Rob Blake. A restricted free agent, his name on a long-term deal will be a priority this summer.

B

CURTIS JOSEPH: Don't scoff at this: for all his brilliance, Joseph was not up to par in the money game in Game 6. He'll be extended this summer, and deservedly so. But he has yet to deliver the Leafs to the promised land.

STEVE THOMAS: Had a very effective series. Scored some big goals and banged heads with Scott Stevens. He's restricted and should be back - but probably at less than the $2.5 million he made this season. If he's cut adrift, it will be to free up cash.

DARCY TUCKER: Drew several penalties with his agitator approach. Still has to develop more polish - he had several good scoring opportunities but went goalless vs Devils. He's around for three more years.

SHAYNE CORSON: Wasn't nearly as effective as he was in first round, but still took care of Jason Arnott for all but one game (Game 7). He's been playing with numerous ailments, and will be back for two more seasons.

PAT QUINN: Had a great game plan and got the most out of his class - but for only five games. Devils coach Larry Robinson got the Arnott line away from Corson, and it was series over. Still, his grip on the coach/GM portfolio is strong.

C

TIE DOMI: The playoffs were his finest hour until the Scott Niedermayer incident. He'll be back next year, and can provide change in momentum if he keeps his composure.

AKI BERG: He has to get better and be smarter. But the upside is that there is an upside. He's a restricted free agent, but should be signed on and included in the long-term plans.

CORY CROSS: He was an inspiration against Ottawa. Then, in desperation against Jersey, the mistakes surfaced. He's restricted, but should be signed for at least another year.

TOMAS KABERLE: A fine player, but is absolutely getting eaten alive by power forwards. He's a restricted free agent, but don't expect that to last long. He'll be a core player for years to come, and at a much higer price than his current $250,250 (U.S.).

DANNY MARKOV: Too unpredictable in the playoffs. Made two huge positional gaffes in Game 6. He's a gamer, for sure, and, with two more years remaining on his contract, will remain an important part of the blue line.

DMITRY YUSHKEVICH: Shot blocking general of the blue line had some trying moments in the final two games versus Jersey. He's signed through next season and should be a fixture again on defence.

D

ALYN McCAULEY: Filled a role defensively against Jersey, but isn't a big-game player - yet. Deserves to stay, but is restricted. Depending on the club's free-agent plans, he may be looking at a change of scenery.

GARRY VALK: In only five playoff games, he was handicapped somewhat by eye injury. Signed through next season and remains a good fourth liner.

NIK ANTROPOV: Is young and plays like it. In the last of a three-year deal next year. Could use a spell in St. John's as a wakeup call.

JONAS HOGLUND: Not much room for a guy who doesn't score and won't play through a check.

YANIC PERREAULT: Great faceoff man, but not very effective in heavy, physical going against Devils. The Canadiens will jump at him when he becomes an unrestricted free agent in July.

SERGEI BEREZIN: Hard to say if the Leafs will tolerate this guy's selfish play much longer. Also, hard to say if he's tradeable: he's back next season at just under $3 million (U.S.).

IGOR KOROLEV: He was all but invisible against Devils and that's hard to swallow. He's a restricted free agent and, unless he has a saviour in Pat Quinn, his days here are numbered.
