Jees. Laitetaanpas jotain näistä toisenkin päivän varauksista. Jarvisin linkin takaa löytyikin useammasta future considerationsin profiloinnit, mutta laitan omien höpinöiden jatkoksi muiden puljujen kuvauksia kun kerran guidet koneelta löytyvät.
36. vuorolla tarttui siis QMJHL:stä C/RW Pascal Laberge. Kaveria on tullut nähtyä sekä QMJHL:ssä, että Kanadan maajoukkueessa ja jotenkin on jäänyt kutina lahjakkaasta kaverista, joka voisi kyetä nähtyä parempaankin. Tai sanotaanko, että ominaisuuksilla voisi kylvää suurempaakin tuhoa, mitä on toistaiseksi aikaan saanut. Taitoa, kokoa, liikettä, peliälyä/luovuutta, aktiivista fyysistä pelaamista jne. On hieman hyökkäysvoittoisempi tapaus, jolla välillä puolustaminen tuppaa jäämään taka-alalle, eikä polje omaa maalia kohti siten kuin pitäisi. On myös otteiltaan hieman ailahteleva. Laiturintontti lienee NHL:ää ajatellen se otollisempi. Asioiden sujuessa tässä on sopivan monipuolinen top-6 laituri Flyersille. Pronmanin ja Future Considerationsin kuvaukset löytyivätkin jo tuolta Jarvisin linkkien takaa, mutta tässä vielä pari muuta.
McKeens Hockey (sijoittivat ennakossaan sijalle 30):
”Laberge first started to make scouts take notice with a standout performance at the Top Prospects Game. ’That really was the turning point for him,’ noted one Quebec-based scout. ’He picked up his game in the Q significantly after that.” The former second overall QMJHL pick then went on a scoring binge, notching nine goals and 26 points in a 15-game stretch, and putting himself in the mix as a first-round prospect. ’He’s got the offensive tools you look for in a top-six winger,’ said one scout. “He’s got quick-twitch muscles, decent size, good hands and vision, and a good shot. If he can learn to play consistently and improve his defensive game he could turn out to be a productive NHLer.’ Laberge has more scoring potential than his 23-goal total might suggest, in large part because he battled a wrist injury that severely affected his shot. “He can score goals,” confirmed the Quebec scout. ’I question the concerns about his leadership. His coach in Victoriaville could not say enough good things about him.’ Mind you his performance at the U18’s raised minor character concerns with at least one scout.”
HockeyProspects (rankkasivat nuorukaisen sijalle 48):
”Laberge was the 2nd overall pick in the 2014 QMJHL Draft by the Gatineau Olympiques. He only played for half the year with them before he was dealt to Victoriaville. That trade reunited him with his Midget AAA coach Bruce Richardson, with whom he went all the way to the Telus Cup final in 2013-2014 with the Grenadiers de Châteauguay. It took until December this season to see Laberge to start playing some great hockey, the kind that you expect from a top prospect. At that time, he started playing on the wing full-time, which seemed to click for him offensively, with less responsibility and more freedom to create offense. He went on a great run in December before breaking a bone in his hand, but made it back for the Top Prospects’ Game where he was named MVP, playing great alongside fellow Quebecer Pierre-Luc Dubois. Overall this season, Laberge had 45 of his 68 points after December 1st, showing great progression through the season. The St-Martine native skates well and is a good scorer. We like his scoring potential more, even if he had a lot of assists this season. He has a good shot and can score from anywhere in the offensive zone, but his decision-making will need to improve. He has great puck skills, great one-on-one moves and can make defenders playing the puck instead of the man regret that decision.
Physically, he will need to get bigger and stronger, as he is not a physical player and doesn’t win enough one-on-one battles. Laberge is an exciting player on the ice with his speed and hands that grant him the ability to make highlight-reel plays, but he’s still searching for that consistency that could make him an elite player. He’s not involved in the play enough; in some viewings he barely touched the puck and was on the perimeter too often. At this level, he still can get by, due to his superior skill level. But once he reaches the pros, this tendency could hurt him. Another area he will need to improve on is his defensive game. Moving him to the wing was a way of giving him less defensive responsibilities compared to a center. He still needs to be more focused in the defensive zone, leaning towards making the smart play instead of cheating to go on offense. Laberge progressed well this year; after a tough rookie season and an up-and-down first half he took a major step from December onwards and was one of the top players in the league in this portion. He has areas in his game that he needs to improve on, but you can’t deny his offensive upside and skill level. At the U18s, he scored twice on the power play in the tournament but his decision-making and complete game was lacking.

Eliteprospects:
”Pascal Laberge is a tough and spirited two-way forward with a high level of hockey sense. Hunts for turnovers and causes havoc whenever he is on the ice. Uses his size well to shield the puck, exert physical force, and win board battles. Has a good set of goal-scorer's hands, but tends to use them more to pass than anything. All-in-all, an efficient, yet exciting, two-way forward with potential to develop into a playmaking goal scorer.”

48. vuorolla tarttui sitten tilaisuuden ensimmäinen maalivahti Carter Hartin muodossa. Tämän vuoden veskariosasto ei ole ihan sieltä laadukkaimmasta päästä, mutta saivat kuitenkin napattua ensimmäisinä sen mieleisimmän. Hartiakin on tullut parin viime kauden aikana nähtyä mukavat määrät, eikä mitään sen negatiivisempaa ole jäänyt mieliin, joskaan ei mitään hirmuisia sankaritekojakaan muistunut. Hieman suurempi saisi tietysti olla, mutta kertoohan se muista ominaisuuksista, että ”vain” 185 senttisenä varattiin tässä vaiheessa draftia. Maalivahtien kehitystä on melko mahdotonta ennakoida, mutta saatiin ainakin yksi mielenkiintoinen lisänimi veskaripooliin. Hextallin kommentit Hartista olivat varsin rohkaisevia. Oli kovasti maalivahtien kehitysvalmentaja Brady Robinsonin mieliin, jolle Hart on tuttu Kanadan juniorimaajoukkueista, ja miehen mielipide painoi paljon varausta tehtäessä.

”It has been a big calendar year for Hart leading up to the draft as he managed an Ivan Hlinka gold medal, selections to the CHL Top Prospects game and the WHL/Russia series, and winning the Del Wilson trophy as the WHL’s best goaltender while playing all but 9 of his teams regular season games. High praise for a goalie that was selected in the eight round of the WHL bantam draft and who received very little offensive support playing behind the 2nd lowest scoring team in the WHL and lowest of any team to make the playoffs.
He plays a compact game that shows very few holes to shooters both under his arms and at the five hole. Lateral movement is very quick and he plants and changes directions in a fluid manner and moves from his knees to his feet in the butterfly as quick as any goalie in the league. Hart is very sound in his positioning, efficient in his movements, both quick and flexible. He has a natural ability to read the flow of play and remain square to shooters showing patience and not over reacting to the attack. Fairly conservative by nature, he plays deep in his net and plants himself in the blue ice, although it would be more beneficial to challenge shooters and step outside the crease at times. This can lead to larger openings in the top of the net, something better shooters at pro levels will be able to take advantage of more so than in the WHL.
Hart will need to work on swallowing rebounds better as pucks do seem to bounce off him with some pop, although he does use good angles to direct pucks away from the slot and into the corners to keep high quality secondary chances to a minimum. Not the biggest frame by NHL goalie standards, Hart will need to bulk up to withstand the rigors of pro hockey but at 17 years old he likely hasn’t finished growing. Some will attribute his success to the heavily defensive system played in Everett, but structure is something he’ll find at pro levels as well, all in all Hart is one of the top goalie prospects for the 2016 draft.
