Uusi ennätysmies
Brian McGrattan teki sitten sen, mitä moni ounastelikin...eli rikkoi AHL:n yhden kauden jäähyennätyksen. Ennätyksen rikkoutuminen tuli tappelulla Sean McMorrow'ta vastaan:

Peli oli Binghamtonin kotipeli ja rytäkkä oli ottelun ensimmäinen tilastomerkintä. Myöhemmin ottelussa McGrattan vielä "varmensi" ennätyksensä ottamalla 2+10 minuuttia hässäkässä, johon osallistui myös muita pelaajia:

McMorrow (Roc) vs. McGrattan (Bin)
This was the battle of the 2 Irishmen.
Right out of the gate, they both hit the ice, check for each other, wait for a stoppage, line up, and away we go. McMorrow dives in first and tries to pull Gratts jersey up. Gratts wards him off with a couple jabs and they lock out. McMorrow then pulls Gratts in and hits him with a few decent rights followed by one good uppercut. Gratts regains composure and hits McMorrow with a couple good rights of his own including one big one. McMorrow pulls him in again and goes for the jersey grab and gets it up over Gratts face. Gratts is trying to struggle free and McMorrow hits him with 3 or 4 decent shots. Gratts is firing blind now and hits McMorrow with maybe 1, then McMorrow hits Gratts with 2-3 more with his jersey up. The linesmen come in, Gratts can't wait to hug McMorrow and rub his head and thank him for the fight. Gratts skates to the corner of the rink, the banner "All Hail the King" is unfurled, Gratts gives it the big props, does a half lap as the place is going nuts, and then goes into the box looking like a man who just hit the lotto! All in all, I'd give this fight as an edge to McMorrow for landing the better shots and Gratts eye was pretty swollen after the game.

BINGHAMTON -- Brian McGrattan called his shot.
Then, he delivered a few to Sean McMorrow's kisser.
After the game-day skate Friday morning, McGrattan told a group of reporters that he'd break the single-season AHL penalty-minute record by fighting McMorrow, the Rochester Americans' tough guy, on his first shift. True to his word, McGrattan dropped the gloves with McMorrow 2:05 into the game to increase his penalty-minute total to 527.
McGrattan entered the game tied with former Senators enforcer Dennis Bonvie, who piled up 522 for McGrattan's hometown Hamilton Bulldogs in 1996-97. McGrattan was 15 years old then and regularly attended Bulldogs games at Copps Coliseum.
"I grew up in Hamilton, and I grew up watching Dennis Bonvie," said McGrattan, Bonvie's protege as a rookie with the Senators two seasons ago. "We've talked about it. I'd think if there's one guy he'd want to break this record, it's me."
After trading punches with McMorrow, McGrattan patted his opponent on the head as gesture of thanks, then saluted a near-capacity crowd that offered a wild ovation. A sign reading "Hail to the King" was displayed at one end of the building next to a sign that said "Gratts 19," references to McGrattan's nickname and uniform number.
In reaching the mark, McGrattan fought 38 times. His most frequent foe was Syracuse Crunch enforcer Brandon Sugden. They had four fights, and by McGrattan's count, he went 2-2.

Myös suomalaisia osallistui päähänlyöntikisoihin, sillä Albanyn vieraspelissä Norfolkia vastaan Tuomas Pihlman otti kahdesti yhteen Krys Barchin kanssa. Jälkimmäisessä myllyssä Pihlman putosi ja pääsi paikattavaksi:

This started earlier in the game with Pihlman checking out captain AJ Baines into the boards pretty hard, a little pushing match started but nothen really. Barch went to the box for roughing and pihlman for boarding. After they got out a few shifts later they line up and Barch is asking and Pihlman agrees. They tie up pretty tight and Pihlman throws a wild right that glances off Barch. Barch pulls loose and hits him twice with real hard shot and Pihlman goes down. His was bleeding pretty bad and had to go off for repairs. Knockdown win for Barch.
