Shannyn ja Hullin kommentit pelistä
Katsoin itse pelin ja ainakin Yzermanin korkea maila oli kyllä aika heppoinen tuomio...
The Wings played shorthanded for 13:26, including more than three minutes down by two men.
"It's ridiculous," said Shanahan, who netted his fifth goal of the season. "I mean, number one, I don't think we were very good tonight, and we didn't deserve to win. But, you know, in the three games I've seen so far this year, it's just a joke what's happening to this league. I'm all for protecting players and eliminating dirty plays from the NHL, but, you know, divers are being rewarded in this league, and without addressing it, the league is losing some of its integrity."
Shanahan was particularly upset after being called for boarding Ronald Petrovicky in the third period, after which Jarome Iginla scored on the power play.
"I pulled up on that guy tonight," Shanahan said. "He knew I was coming, and as soon as he felt my body, he curled his head and dove headfirst into the boards and jumped up and started laughing at me. The referee (Stephen Walkom) 15 feet away, whose call it was, didn't make the call, but the referee (Chris Rooney) who was 40-50 feet away and had three or four players in between us decided he would make the call.
"It's a joke. If you don't lay on the ice and pretend you're dead, you're not going to get a penalty."
Brett Hull put it more succinctly: "We're trying to promote the game for the fans," he said. "This is a pretty poor way of doing it."
Aika ikävää, jos peli NHL:ssä on todella menossa Shanahanin kuvaamaan suuntaan.
