Kings sign Jaroslav Bednar - Monday, July 9, 2001
LetsGoKings.com learned today that the Kings have agreed to terms on a contract with Jaroslav Bednar. Details, such as length of the deal, have not been released as no official announcement has been made yet by the team. Andy Murray confirmed the deal and told us that the 24-year-old right winger is not only expected to make the team this coming season, but should be "one of the top six forwards".
Bednar was selected by LA with their 51st overall pick (2nd round) in last month's NHL Entry Draft. In 53 games with HIFK Helsinki of the Finnish Elite League, the 6-0, 198-pounder from Prague, Czech Republic, recorded 60 points (32-28=60) and 51 penalty minutes.
"Jaroslav Bednar is a Czech player who has spent the last two seasons in Finland. He is a very skilled forward who is a good skater and moves the puck well," Dave Taylor said on Draft Day. "We think Bednar has an excellent chance of playing for our team next season."
