SUNRISE, FL - The Florida Panthers LW Niklas Hagman has been named the NHL
Rookie of
the Month for March. Hagman recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists) and
posted a plus/minus
rating of +3 in 14 games in becoming the second Florida rookie to capture the
honor this season

Hagman edged Atlanta Thrashers left wing Dany Heatley (3-8-11 in 15 games) and
San Jose
Sharks right wing Matt Bradley (3-5-8 in 14 games, +10 rating) to capture the
award.
Hagman recorded points in six games, highlighted by three-point games on March 8
and 28. He
scored a shorthanded goal and added two assists in a 5-4 loss to the Edmonton
Oilers on March 8
and recorded a career-best three assists on March 28 in a 4-3 road loss to the
Ottawa Senators.
Hagman scored Florida's only goal in a 3-1 loss to Boston on March 23 and
notched a breakaway
goal in a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on March 26.
The 22-year-old Hagman has posted 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) in 71 games
to rank eighth in
the NHL's rookie scoring race and is among rookie leaders in goals (10th) and
assists (eighth).
Hagman performed for Finland at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in February.
