Brayden Schenn Bluesiin, Phillyyn matkaa Jori Lehterä, 27th pick (Morgan Frost), cond. 1st round pick (2018). What?

Conditions on second pick from STL to PHI: top 10 protected, STL has option to push to 2019. If they do so, PHI also gets a third in 2020.

Hahah, jälleen kerran! Sanheimiltä terveisiä.

Okei, no tuo cond. Kaks ykköskiekkaa on kova vastine Schennistä.

Lehterä on hyvä kolmoskentän (peliajan perusteella) peluri, jolla on vähän liian iso sopimus. Ryöstöhän tää on, kuten @Caney totesi.

Ensimmäinen kierros lyhykäisyydessään:

+ Nolan Patrick
+ Morgan Frost (STL:n 27th pick)
+ Jori Lehterä
+ Conditional 1st round pick (2018), conditional 3rd pick (2019)
- Brayden Schenn

Aamuviiden rosterisetit:

Lindblom - Giroux - Voracek
Weal - Filppula - Simmonds
Konecny - Lehterä - Patrick (jos helpottaisi NHL:llään astumista)
Raffl - Couturier - Vecchione
...+Weise, Read

Tarkemmin:

Flyers get STL 1st round pick in 2018 with conditions. STL can keep it if it's in top-10. If Blues keep it, Flyers get '19 1st rder & a 3rd.

Aikamoiset aikaiset joululahjat saitte, huh huh.

Schenn kauppa... no, vastine on kyllä vähintäänkin kohtuullinen. Jorsin pitää kyllä paiskoa kesällä duunia ja nostaa tasoa viime kaudesta jonkin matkaa. Toivottavasti on reeni maistunu.

Hyökkäyksessä on aikamoista tungosta näiden kokeneempien alakenttien pelaajien osalta.

It’s Nolan Patrick time! Kaverissa on ehdottomasti aineksia seuraavaksi franchise sentteriksi, jonka ura Flyers-paidassa alkaa heti ensi syksynä. On ehdottomasti NHL-valmis.

Poimin tähän nyt mahdollisimman laajan kattauksen Patrickin profiileista eri Draft Guideista suluissa lopullinen sijoitus näiden listalla:

McKeen’s Hockey (1st overall):

”Had he been born five days earlier, Nolan Patrick would have been the likely third overall choice in the 2016 entry draft, and would have likely spent this season in the NHL with Columbus. He was coming off a season in which 102 points in 72 games for the WHL champion Brandon Wheat Kings and was also named WHL playoff MVP, with 30 points in 21 postseason games.

Instead he was born four days after the cutoff for the 2016 draft and went back to Brandon where he put up strong (but not as strong) numbers in an injury-plagued year. 46 points in 33 games between injuries is quite good, with or without the stellar campaign that preceded it. But we should made no mistake that it was that 2015-16 season that had Patrick sitting in pole position for the majority of the year as the favourite to go 1st in the 2017 draft.

Patrick, whose father and two of his uncles played in the NHL is not a generational talent on the level of McDavid, Eichel, Matthews, Laine (four generations!) that we have been witness to over the past two draft classes. What he is, is simply an excellent hockey prospect who is ready to step into the NHL. He is what we consider a five-tool prospect. That is to say that we have graded his skating, shooting, puck skills, hockey IQ, and physicality all as above average. In four of those elements, we have graded him as well above average.

Even in dealing with myriad injuries this year, it was easy to see how his powerful skating strides made him faster than most of his WHL peers, whether driving wide at top speed, or making an inside move to power towards the crease. It was easy to see how he was able to score so frequently, whether it was with his hard and accurate slap shot, or his quick-release wrister.

It was easy to see the way he was able to manipulate the puck, dangling with ease, creating opportunity after opportunity for himself and his teammates. It was easy to see how well he controlled the game. How he played in all situations. How he adapted his game according to the situation. How he always seemed to be in the right spot. It also didn’t take too much to recognize his man-strength. How he was able to leverage his natural size and strength to win puck battles and maintain control of the puck even under pressure. Patrick may not go first overall in June, but he will not be there for pick number three either. First line centers do not grow on trees.”

Future Considerations (1st overall):

”Patrick is a top-line center that plays both ends of the ice. He processes the game so quickly that there is rarely hesitation in his play. He is always moving his feet and gains momentum because of his ability to accelerate quickly; starting and stopping on the puck. His stride length is excellent and he shows great hustle. He has the ability to quickly change direction and move laterally to cut off and get ahead of opponents. His skillset is so wellrounded and he is so hungry to achieve success that it can be difficult for an opponent to defend him at this level.

His passing game is solid, hitting teammates for clean passes with just the right amount of mustard. He is an unselfish player who draws so much attention to himself that it allows more space for his teammates to get to open spots. He shoots the puck without hesitation, and is able to unload quickly with both velocity and accuracy. He has good timing on his shots and can really queue up a dangerous one-timer. He can overwhelm his opponents by being heavy on the puck and showing off effective puckhandling and puck protection skills.

He isn’t all flash and dash but a lot of the highly-skilled plays he makes go without much credit. His quickness and skill make him one of the most disruptive players on the ice - he is capable of magically stealing pucks and making a play before opponents know the puck is off their blade. His reach, hand eye coordination and positioning, including his ability to break up plays defensively, make no puck in his general vicinity safe. He shows high IQ with his decision-making skills on and off the puck. He is hard on the body and plays with healthy aggression. He has a physical edge to him and

can rock opponents with a timely hit. Patrick will stand up for himself when challenged, fighting and feeding some solid punches to opponents who think they can intimidate him. He competes hard; displayed by his willingness to engage on second and third efforts to disrupt plays, trying to make an impact all over the ice.

We all know he can play and has the prerequisite skills to contribute at the next level but for a guy who had difficulty staying out of sick bay since suffering a sports hernia during the 2015-16 WHL playoffs, there are some injury concerns that will need to be alleviated by medical professionals. There have also been some rumblings about an all-aboutme type of attitude creeping in this season and perceived lackadaisical play in some games, but in our opinion those concerns are overblown.

SCOUT’S QUOTE: “Have no doubt, this kid is top of the class. After a year full of adversity, including a battle with injuries and a depleted supporting cast, Patrick flourished as a focal player who played all situations and captained a team at 18. He doesn’t have the jaw-dropping flash of a lot of superstar players but make no mistake, his ability to manage a shift and outthink his opponents will make him a strong two-way center in the league for a long time.”

NHL POTENTIAL: Top-Line All-Round Two-Way Center”

ISS Hockey (1st overall):

”Scouting Report: Patrick remains ISS # 1 ranked despite an injury plagued season. Highly skilled center that plays in every situation but is at his best when he has the puck on his stick and is creating offense for himself and his teammates. An incredibly intelligent pivot that reads the play well and has good anticipation skills. Is a strong two-way player that can be used on the defensive side of the ice and on the penalty kill effectively. Plays the PP very well, and can either be a trigger man on the half boards, or be mobile and find open ice. He is a very nice-looking skater, but could stand to be a little quicker from a stand-still. Like this player - has all the tools, just needs time to put it all together.

Dir. Of Scouting, Dennis MacInnis:

’There is no real weakness in his game. There are enough dimensions to his game that he could play a variety of roles in the NHL without much trouble’.

ISS Scout Brent Parker:

’Franchise center who does everything well. Puck management is outstanding and he seemingly never gives it away unnecessarily. Unselfish but is a shoot first guy - has a killer instinct at the net’.

ISS Scout Rocco Zappia:

’Big bodied cerebral centre. Moves well for his size, very strong on his skates. First few steps could be a bit quicker, but isn't a major weakness. Has excellent puck control and a good shot. His biggest asset is his elite IQ, sees the ice incredibly well.’”

Corey Pronman, ESPN (2nd overall):

”Patrick didn't have the best draft season he could have envisioned, mostly because he missed a substantial part of the season due to injury. However, he remains a top prospect. Patrick's best trait is his hockey sense. He's a highly creative playmaker, with high-end vision and puck skills. He can dictate the tempo of a game, with pro-level pace in his decisions and the ability to slow the play and find his options. Patrick also shows an above-average shot and can generate it from tight spaces. His skating isn't as dynamic as his playmaking, as it's more about pro average than top level, but he'll be able to keep up in the NHL. He's a player without a glaring flaw, as he'll be what you want in a top-level center: a two-way forward with skill, size and intelligence who can contribute in all areas of the game.”

Hockey Prospects (2nd overall):

”Nolan Patrick struggled with injuries in the 2016-17 regular season as the captain of the Brandon Wheat Kings, playing only 33 games, posting 20 goals and 46 points. He also missed the team’s four playoffs games with an injury. As a late 1998 birthday, he played all 72 regular season games in 2015-16 and was the WHL Playoff Most Valuable Player in Brandon’s run to the Memorial Cup.

Patrick has a complete offensive game, showing the ability to both finish plays and create chances for his linemates. This season as the clear offensive leader of his team, he spent a lot of time carrying the puck. He would often skate pucks through the neutral zone and circle the opposition in the offensive zone showing patience and poise, waiting for a passing lane to open up. He has great on ice vision and the ability to find teammates with speed on the rush, in the cycle game and in powerplay situations. He handles the puck with his head up and is consistently scanning the ice. Although he excelled with the puck and making plays, Patrick has a great ability to find dead spots in the offensive end. His release and accuracy on his shot in the slot is exceptional and he understands when he can afford to be patient with the puck or decisive. In addition to his shot, he can wait out goaltenders and beat them with his quick hands.

Nolan’s skating fundamentals are strong, he achieves a deep knee bend resulting in a powerful stride. He is quick in tight areas for a big body and can effectively evade defenders through quick efficient turns and stops and starts. His ability to stop and change directions makes him a terrific penalty killer. On the penalty kill he often has shifts where he is pinning the puck along the wall, killing lots of clock because of a combination of work ethic, size and quickness. He has the ability to jump and accelerate into open lanes and his top end speed is above average. Although he does not tend to burn defenseman wide with his speed, he has enough jump to get in a good position to use his size to drive the net. Often he pokes the puck quickly through the stick of the defenseman while skating wide, drops his shoulder and retrieves it. Patrick’s hands are quick and he is creative with the puck. He is dangerous in one on one situations because of his combination of size and skill and he can easily beat the opposition laterally when skating the puck through the neutral zone.

In viewings of him this season, Patrick had some terrific shifts without the puck. He can be tenacious and relentless at stripping pucks and often the effort he shows changes the momentum of games and his teammates follow suit. His defensive zone play, including winning face-offs and coverage in his own end is strong and he is not afraid to separate body from puck. His effort in these areas were not consistent game to game but he found a way to be a difference maker offensively in the majority of his viewings.

Nolan Patrick projects into a top 2 centre that has tremendous offensive versatility. He has the ability to play a variety of offensive roles and can adapt his play when playing with different types of players. His offensive upside is high and although the sample size is small this season, he continued his dominant offensive play. This offensive upside in addition to his intangibles without the puck and in defensive situations make him hard to pass up as the first overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.”

Quotable: “Patrick is the safe pick for me at number one. He has an NHL body, can skate, score and facilitate for teammates. I believe he can step into the NHL right away and make an impact.” - HP Scout, Cass Bruni

Quotable: “Most of my talks with NHL Scouts about Nolan this season just revolved around his injury concerns and I’m not going to expand on any of that I’m sure he’s had enough injuries and injury questions to last him a lifetime. As for the ranking. It’s so tight. A bunch of Scouts told me their number one prospect was different depending on which day you asked them. I flip flopped a few times this spring as well. Both Nolan and Nico are exceptional players.” - HP Scout, Mark Edwards

Recrutes (3rd overall):

”It wasn’t supposed to go down this way. The consensus number-one prospect for months on end leading up to the 2016-17 season, Patrick was expected to only build on his incredible 102-point campaign until a sports hernia injury season ended up sidelining him for close to half the season and brought his draft stock back down to earth as others closed the gap, and in at least one case, ultimately passed him.

’He needs to be given the benefit of the doubt at this time in regards to what he’s done in the past, but he shouldn’t be anointed as the number one,’ said one scout in March. “He has competition with the kid in Halifax. Hischier is probably a better two-way player.

’It’s not so cut and dried now that he’s number one. If you talked to any of the western (crossover) scouts early in the year they were saying ‘I don’t need to see Hischier. Patrick is the best.’ But that turned a little bit. Patrick is still a really good player...he’s one or two, but now it’s not so certain.’

Scout loved how Patrick played as an underage, and with good reason - he followed up his great regular season by leading all WHL players in playoff scoring while playing a dominant twoway game. He brings good size, has an aboveaverage shot, puck skills and smarts, and elite playmaking abilities. This season, however, some concerns crept in about his skating, competitiveness and play away from the puck while still keeping in mind he was injured.

’It takes time to come back to where he was before after the hernia surgery,’ noted one scout who has Patrick ranked third overall. “I know for a lot of guys who have surgery for a sports hernia, it takes them almost a full year to get back your skating.’”

Eliteprospects:

”A highly skilled and all-round player. Patrick has few, if any, holes in his game and stands out in many aspects. His hockey sense and competitiveness is top notch. At the same time he has above average skating, shooting and puck skills. Furthermore, Patrick is a reliable two-way player and will do an excellent job on the penalty kill. Very capable scorer and passer.”

------------------------------

No hard feelings, mutta kuitenkin.

McKeen’s Hockey (41st overall):

”A smart and skilled playmaker, Frost was quietly effective for Sault Ste. Marie in a twoway capacity this year. Although undersized and not very aggressive, he has the skating acumen to play an elusive game. A high-end scorer in the minor midget ranks, the Barrie, Ontario native made great strides in his offensive game in his sophomore campaign for the Greyhounds.

Watching him in action, it may sometimes seem that the puck is always on his stick, and he has been called a puck hog in the past. That said, his hands are very fast, and the puck is safer on his stick than it is with most of his peers. He is also prone to attempting the fancier play instead of something simpler and less inherently risky. While he has a decent wrist shot, he definitely prefers to create plays for his teammates to convert from and he is also more effective that way.

His skating is a bit of a mixed bag. He has a change of pace that he can use to avoid a defender, something helped by his strong edges, but he does not always use it in a timely fashion, a trait which has occasionally hurt him during zone exits, as he can take his time getting out of the neutral zone. His effectiveness as a penalty killer should help NHL teams see that he is not an offense-only, top-six or bust prospect. While he lacks the size and physicality many teams still prefer in a bottom six role, his hockey IQ is enough to allow him to contribute there. He may come off the board as high as the middle of the second round.”

Future Considerations (55th overall):

”Frost is extremely gifted, and possesses a high hockey IQ. He is a better playmaker than a goal-scorer but can do both. He makes difficult passes look extremely simple, is very gifted with the puck on his stick, and has the ability to pick corners and bury the puck with ease. He is agile on his skates and possesses excellent edgework, enabling him to cut in and out of defenders quickly to create and finish plays. His superior vision serves him well as he dishes the puck, combined with his slick hands, it can be a deadly blend. He has an incredibly accurate stick that he uses to poke the puck off of opponents sticks, dig out of piles of players, and picks off passes. Part of his turnover ability comes from speedy skating and solid positioning. He never stops skating, allowing him to generate speed quickly and get to where the puck is going to be or where the play is beginning to develop. He also has improved his skating ability over the course of the season, and has turned into a true threat every time he steps out on the ice. Smart and tenacious are the two best ways to describe Frost’s game. Defensively, he has sound positioning and is rarely static on the ice. Frost has great potential as a small but very skilled player.”

ISS Hockey (72nd overall):

”Smart, skilled forward who can play a 200-foot game. What he lacks in size he makes up in hockey sense and competitiveness. With some more development, he can become a valuable role player who can contribute to both offense and defense.”

Hockey Prospects (61st overall):

”Morgan was selected in the fourth round of the 2015 OHL Draft by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He made the Greyhounds out of camp as a 16 year old and contributed very well, playing a bottom six role. He returned for his second season and did a great job doubling his numbers from last year, while playing a much more critical role for the Greyhounds in all game situations.

Morgan is a little on the small side, but his quick decision making helps him create chances for his team offensively. Morgan has good hockey sense and he reads plays quickly in all three zones and reacts accordingly. He has good passing ability which allows him to create offense for his linemates. His shot isn't overly powerful but it is pretty accurate and he is dangerous when in alone going to the net. He also has good positional awareness. Defensively, Frost works equally as hard and uses his hockey sense to put himself in good positioning. He's not a tough physical type of player but he has a good stick in the defensive zone to intercept passes and put pressure on the puck carrier.

Morgan has a wide range in his potential. He has smarts and skill. He will at the very least become a very successful player in the junior ranks. With increased development, both on ice and physically, Frost could become a solid player at the NHL level in complimentary forward role.”

”On a team loaded with NHL draft picks at forward, Frost burst out of the gates and made it impossible for the Soo coaching staff not to play him in the top-six and on the powerplay, impressing scouts along the way with his highend smarts and offensive skills.

“He was on such a strong team that perhaps he didn’t always get put in the offensive situations,” said one scout who has him firmly planted in the middle of the first round. “He’s very, very talented and smart and Frost can shoot, but he’s not always inclined to go inside. He’s so smart and got such great touch. He has ridiculous offensive instinct.”

Frost confirmed to the scouting world just how fast he was during the Top Prospects skill testing, finishing at the very top in all of the skating drills. “He’s really speedy, but he doesn’t always use it when he has the puck,” suggested one scout. “He has a tendency to slow the play down and look at all his options instead of using that quickness. Sometimes it’s to his benefit... and sometimes it isn’t.”

The main issue with Frost’s game concerns his defensive game, and there are some scouts who wonder if at his size he will be able to handle larger top-two centers in an NHL setting and opine that he may end up being a playmaking winger on an offensive line. “Frost will have a tough time playing center at the NHL level,” said one scout. “The talent is there, but he’s small, and gets those games where he’s not totally engaged,” noted another scout who still thinks Frost can play center in the NHL. “He’s soft and light on defence, a stick checker, but his defensive sense is good, he has the smarts. He needs to improve his strength so he can engage better.”

Brock Otten – OHL Prospects:

”Frost, like Entwistle, has also been a favourite of mine among this crop of OHL prospects. He isn't blessed with the physical skills that Entwistle has been, but there are a lot of things to like about his game. He has the speed and agility you like to see in smaller/average sized centers. He also really processes the game well. Right now, his game is most noticeable on the powerplay where he makes such quick decisions with the puck and is fearless in using his speed to attack open lanes in the defense. And despite lacking in the strength department, Frost does a good job as a defensive player and faceoff man. Once he gets stronger, I think you'll see his production really increase. Thought he played very well in the playoffs, and finished the season off quite well. One thing that could also really benefit his game is improving his shot. Needs to get more velocity behind it and keep defenders guessing, preventing them from playing the pass off the rush. But I really like Frost's potential as a two-way top 6 center at the NHL level. Think David Krejci, Vincent Trocheck.”

Corey Pronman (53rd overall):

”Frost showed significant development in his 17-year-old season, being a top player for the Greyhounds. His hockey sense is what stands out to me. Frost is a great playmaker who is often a primary creator of scoring chances. While he's great when he has the puck on his stick in general, I'd like to see him improve away from the puck. He also isn't a fierce competitor in puck battles. Moreover, his skating doesn't look explosive. His top gear is just OK, though he shows great agility and burst in his first few steps. I see a lot of potential in Frost's game, but he'll need time to round out some of those deficiencies.”

-----------------------

No, parempi liikaa, kuin liian vähän.

"Condition: If the 2018 draft pick becomes a top 10 pick, Blues have the option to move the pick to 2019. If it is a top 10 pick in 2019, Blues have the option to move the pick to 2020. If the pick is moved to 2019 or 2020, the Flyers will also receive a 2019 3rd round pick."

Lehterällä me juuri mitään tehdä.
